Programming a remote is one of the prerequisite tasks when you are installing garage door opener. A remote is one of access entry devices that advantageous enough to control the garage door opener, especially when you are in a hot summer day, hard pouring rain or snowy day. What is more comfortable when you need a hand to open or close the garage door without leaving your vehicles in just a push of remote garage door opener button?
To program a remote is relatively easy. A remote should be compatible to work well with the opener. Although it is suggested to use the remote from the same brand with the opener, it is possible to program different remote garage door opener.
As long as the remote has the same frequency that an opener work at, it is possible enough for you to add the additional remote control or new remote control that has different brand from the opener. If you want to program remote garage door opener, you need at least a ladder and screwdriver (optional). Any programming project, includes the learn button or set button located on the motor unit or power head. Press and hold the learn button or set button until the activator light near the button is activated. The light will stay blinking for about 30-60 seconds and then the activator light on the opener is off.
Press and hold the Learn or Set (either labelled L or S) on the remote control unit. Do not release the button until the activator light on the opener is flashing. After the activator light on the opener is flashing you can release the remote button. You need to test the remote, is the programming process is complete or not by press the remote button you have been programmed. The opener should operate just right after you release the button. If the door does not move, you need to repeat the process.
