Automatic garage door opener is one of the best inventions in human’s life. There are lots of variations of garage door openers a customer can select. There are, basically, four common types of residential garage door openers that are classified into how the mechanism moves the garage door. They are a screw, belt, chain and torsion spring.
The opener that using a chain or chain driven garage door opener are commonly found in the market since the price is fairly cheaper rather than the other opener. The chain-driven opener fair price is lovable but the noisy sounds it makes and how often you should maintain the opener makes it detestable. The opener will run with the chain winds into opener head, and then the chain will pull the carriage mounted to the door bracket. The chain will tend to slap the rail as the opener is engaged, that is why the noisy sounds are produced.
The next automatic garage door opener types are screw-driven garage door opener. Unlike the chain-driven opener, the screw driven opener are less require maintenance as the less parts it is used. The screw-driven opener uses a worm screw held inside the rail. When it is operated, a grooved carriage will ride under the worm screw and the worm screw will turn and move the carriage so the door is lifted up. It is known as the opener that powerful and quick one.
Belt-driven garage door works the same way the chain-driven opener does, except the chain will be replaced by a less noisy rubber belt. The rubber belt makes the motor runs very smoothly and quietly, but more maintenance is required because the more parts used.
Torsion spring is the last types of automatic garage door opener. Among the four types of opener, the torsion spring is the expensive one. The torsion spring opener does not run along the rail, but will turn the torsion- spring rod. In this way the motor produces less noise.
