Remote control is a prominent item that always included in garage door opener system. Once you buy the garage door opener, you can install the device and program Genie garage door opener remote to work with the opener. One click away on the remote button will directly send message digitally towards the opener and as result the door open or close.
When you need to replace the main motor head of your garage door opener, you can still use your previous remote control. To assign the remote control to the newest main motor head you need to program Genie garage door opener remote.
You will need a stepladder to reach the main motor head as you program Genie garage door opener remote. First, you need to reach the new motor unit using the stepladder and find the PROGRAM/SET button. Press the button and do not releases for about 5 seconds until you see both LEDs near the PROGRAM/SET button go blue.
Once you see the LEDs flashing you may release the button and now the Long LED is off and the round LED stays blue. Next, press again the PROGRAM/SET button and release it. The Long LED is now flashing purple while the round LED is off.
Now you need to push the button on Genie garage door opener remote control to test whether the programming is succeed or not. Once you push the button, the unit should receive the message and start to raise or lower the garage door.
If you find the garage door opener does not open or close as you push the button on your remote control, try to perform the step of programming the remote control again and make sure the batteries work well too.
